Anniversary Tradition!!! (frozen pizza and diet coke) (we added the egg rolls and Jim Beam this year! HA!)
8 years of unbelievable happiness!!

Me and my mentor teacher, Joyce. She's the BEST!

My Social Studies unit. We compared how the Egyptians used the Nile River to how people in McGrath use the Kuskokwim River!! Huge Success!!!!! We even did art on actual papyrus which is a plant that grew wild along the Nile. We also sang "Sweet Home Nile River" to the tune of - yep, Sweet Home Alabama. TOO much fun - and to think, I will actually get paid for this one day. HA!

The kids working hard on the wildlife art project. This was my first "official" art lesson. The kids loved it and I loved it!

Art project - half photo and half colored pencils. The kids in my 3rd - 6th grade class are excellent artists!
Chillin'
Baby beaver hat!! For Leif Eggleston
Chris, Cari and Leif made it home to McGrath yesterday. Welcome home and we look forward to

Our friend, Ken Richardson arriving in McGrath. This is his first solo flight since his plane wreck last year. Nothing can stop Ken from flying - not even a broken neck!! Good job Ken. We knew you would do it.

This is Kas giving Ken a big hug. She was the nurse practitioner who took care of Ken right after the wreck.

Okay here's the story:
Bo and I went on a proxy hunt for Ken. We were in this area the night before and called but saw or heard nothing. Early the next morning we saw a cow and calf very close to camp. Bo's plan was to go out and call for an hour or so and see what happened. Well, THIS happened!! This bull came through camp and actually got his foot hung up on the bow line of our boat! He was moving toward Bo's calls and I happened to be in the path. He was a beauty and so much fun to watch. Bo could barely see him and was not able to get a shot. This moose ended up getting spooked and ran off.

We pick the best spots for camp! HA! Big grizzly tracks! Bo said they are old tracks, but I still slept with bear spray above my pillow.
We figured that since the bull was spooked and RAN away that there was no point in staying in this spot. However, we decided that I would stay in the boat and start packing up camp while Bo went about 100 yards to see if he could call it back in. About 20 minutes later - I heard a shot, and another and another! It was not the same one that came through camp, but it was also a dandy!
