Vacation with my mom and aunt Elaine.

6-20 thru 6-26

Met them in Anchorage.

Drove to Seward.

Went to Alaska SeaLife Center ( Rehab center for abandoned and injured critters )

Ididaride Sled Dog Tours- rode in a sled (actually wheeled cart) for 2 miles pulled by 13 dogs, visited their kennels and played with little puppies.

Wildlife and Glacier Tour- definitely the highlight of the trip. Saw 8 humpback whales, Dall's porpoise (look like little killer whales), sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, lots of birds!

Stopped by the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

Then they came out to McGrath with me for a couple of days.

We looked all over town for moose and never saw any. We did see a porcupine and a weasel.

This picture was taken on the drive down to Seward. It is as cold as it looks!

It was a terrible week as far as the weather goes, but we still had fun. Temps stayed in the 40's and rained everyday but the day they left-of course. We even built a fire in the wood stove!

Seward Small Boat Harbor

We left from here to go on Wildlife and Glacier Cruise.

It was an 8 hour cruise. We were served lunch on the boat and then stopped at Fox Island for supper!

Had a great time! Nobody got seasick!!! YAY!

This is Bear Glacier. This one does not come all the way out to the water like the next one. It is land locked.
Slowly making our way around the ice chunks to get up to the glacier

Humpback Whale! We saw 8 different ones!

We stopped on our way back to eat supper.

This is Exit Glacier. You can see it from the road. You can also hike to it.

IdidaRide Sled Dog Tours
Took a 2 mile ride pulled by 13 sled dogs, visited the kennels, played with the puppies, watched a demo on the cold weather gear worn by the mushers and dogs!
Had a great time!!

Hooked up and ready to go!!

This is Robin. He is a retired Iditarod dog. Now his job is to demonstrate cold weather dog gear!HA! He has to do this several times a day! Poor Robin. "The hat isn't really dog gear. He was just being funny"
This is at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

King Salmon (50-60 lbs)?

A Native in town caught this in a net (we can't fish that way yet!)

We were riding around and stopped to look at it, and he gave it to us!!

We cooked in on the grill that night and Mama and Aunt Elaine got to try fresh caught salmon. Yummy!
